O’Sullivan was Deputy Commissioner of Police in Queensland. He had previously been in the Criminal Investigation Branch for 20 years, and had turned the Branch into an efficient organisation. He hand-picked staff and was a strong proponent of jiujitsu training in the force. * The best book on early Queensland crime and the introduction of investigation techniques such as fingerprinting. A final chapter treats famous ‘Australian crimes and criminals’, including Ned Kelly.
