Title pages: a2 (Main Title); Leaf 263 (Psalms of David), Eeee1 (Apocrypha – between leaves 437 and 439) Full 18th century brown calf over five raised bands, gilt title on red leather spine label, spine elaborately gilt, boards blind-stamped, red edges, marbled endpapers. * Hinges repaired and strengthened, spine partly darkened, edges and corners rubbed and a little bumped, else very good and overall very fresh, clean and crisp inside. * OT: Short tears (some with old repaired) to leaves 421, 422, Leaves 423, 424, 432-437 re-margined with lost text added in manuscript (in the black letter script), some minimal loss of a few letters and words, Apocrypha title page (Eeee1) laid down, Leaf 428 dirt-stained. * NT: Leaf 30 from another edition, in smaller font, repeating some verses from verso of leaf 29 (these crossed out in ink), Leaves 62, 63, 89, 122 and 123 repairs to bottom margin with lost text added in manuscript (in the black letter script), some minimal loss of a few letters and words, Leaf 84 large piece repaired in bottom corner, with lost text added in manuscript – but only on the verso. * Late 16th or 17th century ownership entry at head of title ‘A Croke his Book’, this being either Alexander Croke of Studley Priory (b 1594, died about 1634) or, more likely, his grandson Alexander Croke of Oxford, later of Studley (b 23.07.1657, d 27.11.1726), rector of Hartwell
